Golden Globes 2018: Social media reacts to activism, all-black dress, #TimesUp movement 

Celebrities attending the 75th Golden Globe Awards Sunday night in Beverly Hills wore all black, and it wasn’t just for the fashion — it was a statement.

Actors and actresses, some wearing “#TimesUp” pins along with their dark attire, did so to spread further awareness of the sexual harassment, assault and misconduct in Hollywood that has been reported over the past few months.

Trump mocked for tweet calling his presidency ‘consensual’

President Trump was mocked on Twitter for a tweet in which he misquoted a New York Post column and called his own presidency “consensual.”

The gaff was especially poignant as it popped up on the night of the 2018 Golden Globes, which was focused on the #TIMESUP movement, a push for protections and equal pay for women in the wake of numerous women reporting sexual misconduct by powerful men in Hollywood and beyond.

As such, the platform has faced increasing pressure from the public to ban him from using the platform – will this reignite and further add to the debate. So far, Twitter has simply stated it is not in a position in which it can ‘censor world leaders.’

Advice ranges from swiping fatigue on apps to encouraging you to talk to strangers in real life.
