 Facebook’s latest News Feed update will prioritise trustworthy publishers

Facebook will begin favouring news sources its users consider trustworthy, in an attempt to stem the spread of false and misleading information on the platform. From next week, the company will begin prioritising news stories from publications that users have rated trustworthy.

 *Prioritising news from trusted publishers is part of Facebook’s broader effort to revamp the News Feed and “encourage meaningful social interactions with family and friends over passive consumption” – it will be interesting to see how this ratings system will be monitored.  *

Coty launches voice and visual beauty experience on Amazon Echo Show

 Coty has partnered with Amazon to launch a new skill for the Echo Show; the first Alexa-enabled voice device with a screen included. “Let’s Get Ready” is a personal beauty assistant that provides users with a unique voice and visual experience.

The Amazon Go checkout-free grocery store opens to the public

 Amazon have opened its first supermarket without checkouts, store assistants or self-service kiosks. Amazon Go uses ceiling-mounted cameras and electronic sensors to identify each customer and track what items they select. Purchases are billed to customers’ credit cards.
