Amazon has trialled a checkout free supermarket, ‘Amazon Go’ in Seattle, and it is due to come to the UK. Using an app, customers enter the shop with their iPhone or Android, then smart technology and cameras track what groceries shoppers pick up and bill them shortly after they leave the shop.

However, the technology isn’t perfect. An Amazon insider has revealed that there have been problems with correctly identifying shoppers of similar body types – and children moving items to the wrong places on shelves.

Amazon Go is a glimpse of what the future of retail might look like and yet another example of how AI is fulfilling our demand for even more convenience. Though it looks like we’ve still got a way to go before it’s without it’s issues
