The popularity of Amazon’s Echo smart speakers has helped push the audience for digital radio past that of FM and AM in the UK for the first time.

Cardi B sizzled on Facebook and Instagram in April

Hip-hop star Cardi B was a red-hot Hot Topic on both Facebook and Instagram in April, according to Facebook IQ. Other Facebook Hot Topics in the people category last month included Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kate Middleton, while Instagram users discussed the death of DJ Avicii.

 * Facebook IQ is a great example of how social listening tools can be used to measure subjects that drove disproportionately high volumes of discussion. Interestingly enough, it shows that the most talked about topics differed across the two channels.*

Twitter will hide more bad tweets in conversations and searches

Twitter will begin using a wider range of signals to rank tweets in conversations and searches, hiding more replies that are likely to be abusive. Comments from users that have often been blocked, muted, or reported for abuse will be less visible throughout the service.
