AVIATION GIN AND RYAN REYNOLDS MOCK NETFLIX’S ‘FYRE’ IN NEW AD
You may have thought that Fyre Festival was done and dusted, but Ryan Reynolds has brought it back once again…
Netflix’s documentary about the infamous event immediately went viral upon its release in January, with the scene featuring event planner Andy King arguably becoming the first true meme of 2019 due to his unwavering dedication to the job. In line with this, Aviation Gin owner Ryan Reynolds has used a new advert to pose the question “how far would you go for your company?”, whilst showing off a new limited edition bottle featuring his signature.
Whilst the styling of the advert perfectly encapsulates the concept of the failed festival, it feels a little late for Aviation to be joining the conversation – especially when a gin brand had little to do in the space in the first place. This said, it is definitely in tune with the other promotional material Reynold’s has done for the brand, with his tongue firmly pressed to his cheek as he gloats about how his brand is “the fastest-growing gin in the world”.
Including King in a cameo at the end was a masterstroke – it’s great to see his fifteen minutes of fame roll into its sixth month!
