ver in Sweden, Burger King is daring its customers to try the Rebel Whopper and Rebel Chicken King, meat-free alternatives of the Whopper and Crispy Chicken Burger.

It has introduced the “50/50” menu, where customers can order a Whopper or a Crispy Chicken Burger, but have a 50/50 chance of being presented with one of the meat-free alternatives. They can then scan the box to guess whether they think they have received the real deal, or a meat-free impostor.

Burger King believes that its soy-based Whopper and Chicken Burger alternatives are so good, that customers won’t be able to tell the difference. So far, it seems to be working as 40% of customers have guessed what they’re eating incorrectly! Plus, the 50/50 menu is cheaper than ordering off the normal menu, so it’s a win win for our bank accounts and the animal kingdom.

We love that Burger King is trying to encourage vegan sceptics to give plant-based burgers a try. After all, it can’t hurt for us non-vegans to lay-off meat once in a while, and if the Rebel burgers do taste the same, this sounds like a good place to start! Let’s hope Burger King is planning on trialling the 50/50 menu in the UK soon.
