ARTISTS CAN NOW PAY TO SEND ALBUM LAUNCH ALERTS ON SPOTIFY
Spotify has a solution for staying on top of new releases. Its newest feature allows artists and their teams to pay to send new album alerts to users on the platform. The alerts will be shared as full-screen recommendations which shows the album cover and artist name, with a button that takes the user straight to stream the album.
New album alerts have been available on the streaming platform for a while, however allowing artists to pay for these is a fascinating development in monetising the platform. The recommendations will be powered by users’ music taste, meaning you won’t be inundated with notifications from artists that you are just not interested in.
We loved Spotify’s campaign dramatising user data on billboards, so it’s interesting to see it continuing to tap into user data to offer better services while maximising profitability. We think this could be a great way for users to stay updated with their favourite musicians, giving power to the creators to reach more people.
